The Wendell Broadband Committee Mission

To facilitate the acquisition or installation of high-speed Internet to Wendell, Shutesbury and Leverett.

  1. Researching technologies with an emphasis on Internet and technology access for the schools, libraries, town halls, police and fire departments, homebound residents, disabled residents, and seniors.
  2. Analyze costs and financing options by gathering information from prospective providers.
  3. Work closely with Wendell's Select Board, making recommendations to the Board regarding providers or technologies.
  4. Find the solutions that will best protect the rural character and pristine natural resources of our community.
  5. Find solutions that afford the most local control, affordable, options and financially self-supporting solutions.
  6. Consulting with, advising, and working closely with Shutesbury / Leverett broadband committees.

Shutesbury Broadband Committee Presentation on WiredWest (featuring Monica Webb)

Note to users with limited bandwidth: Make sure "HD" on player is in grey in order to play in SD (200 - 400 MB), otherwise if you play in HD (with "HD" on player in blue), you will be using 1GB of bandwidth.

Best to click on Download button and download SD file to your computer, so you can play it multiple times and share it in your community without using additional bandwidth.

The Shutesbury presentation gives a good overview of the WiredWest project with a PowerPoint presentation, while the Wendell presentation gives a nitty-gritty look at the financial and tax impacts of the project.

WiredWest Broadband Sign Up Options

E-mail Print

In order to qualify Wendell to be part of the WiredWest community broadband network, a minimum of 40% of our households must sign up for the service by this spring by paying a $49 deposit for 25 Mbps (unlimited data) internet service. This will be held in escrow and counted towards your first month´s service, which will likely not begin for two years, as the fiber-optic cables need to be wired throughout the participating towns first. If you move or change your mind, you may ask for a refund.

To sign up and pay on-line: https://register.wiredwest.net/
(To pay securely on-line you will be directed to pay via Amazon).

For people who prefer to mail in a check, you can do so by downloading a PDF of the WiredWest Sign Up Form (here), then print it out and fill in the information on the form with a check for your $49 deposit.

Mail form and check to:
