Summer Reading Program

This Summer the Library had a fantastic response to our summer reading program "Spaceship Adventure".  The theme was state-wide, and we participated by creating an interactive outerspace mural.  Jessica Star painted the mural and had the help of several young people in the painting process.  Our readers created and named their own spaceships which were placed on earth, at the bottom of a large 8 foot x 8 foot mural.    They then navigated their way among the painted planets as they read.  Each book read earned them an astroid, which they put up on the mural, a sting of yarn traced their flight around the solar system.  The mural is now so covered with astroids we can barely see the planets!  There was a lot of reading going on this summer.  At the end of the program, they counted up their books read and cashed in to get some great prizes.
