Finance Committee

The four main roles of the Finance Committee relating to municipal finance are to:

  • educate
  • advise
  • collect & organize data
  • plan

This includes compiling the budget requests of various town committees and boards into the annual operating budget (omnibus budget), which is voted at Town Meeting, and making recommendations on these and other issues which impact the town financially.

The Wendell Selectboard and Finance Committee co-hosted a public information and public input meeting on Wednesday November 12th to discuss future planning for the Wendell Fire, Police and Highway Departments.

The meeting focused on future issues and expenditures regarding public safety investments in Wendell. Among the questions discussed: Should the town sell the existing engine pumper and purchase a four-wheel drive “Quick Attack” truck to replace it (estimated net expense is about $250,000).

A timeline of future capital expenses around Fire, Highway, and Police was also presented.
