The Community Garden is approximately an acre of fertile soil in a sunny field at the Town Office Building. Individual garden plots are available to Wendell residents for free. However, gardeners are expected to volunteer for several hours per growing season to help keep the “community” parts of the garden (paths, compost piles, etc.) maintained. The Community Garden includes a permaculture ornamental garden
(still a work in progress) and a cutting garden for the use of all of the garden plot holders. For the 2011 season, a “lasagne-method” demonstration plot and a permaculture demonstration plot are planned.
The garden is supervised by the 5-member Community Garden Committee appointed by the selectboard. Meetings are posted on the town posting site.
