Fire-making is an elemental part of survival, connection, and life as we know it. Join local wilderness instructor Neill Bovaird to practice fire-making using a bow-drill, your body, and your breath.
This is an outdoor, in-person event for adults and older teens. Masks are required.
This activity is part of the NEA Big Read, in partnership with the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association. This year's book is Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, a work of fiction which tells a story of a traveling orchestra and theater group twenty years after a pandemic decimates the globe. A story of arts among struggle, we come away with the thought that "survival is insufficient"
