WENDELL, MA – The Town of Wendell is proud to announce the unveiling of the restored World War II memorial on Wednesday, July 17 at 3 pm at the Wendell Town Offices. This special event will be attended by Wendell veterans, Town officials, and Upper Pioneer Valley Veterans Services.

The restoration of the memorial has an intriguing history. Jim Gillio, from Hollister, California, discovered the wooden honor roll on Facebook Marketplace and recognized its significance. Determined to return it to its rightful home, Gillio collaborated with Wendell Town Coordinator Glenn Johnson-Mussad and the Wendell Selectboard. The board voted unanimously to accept the donation, and U.S. Army veteran Bernie Ramirez, a skilled woodworker, took on the restoration project.

Join us in honoring the service and sacrifice of Wendell’s World War II veterans. The ceremony will be an opportunity for the community to come together, remember, and show gratitude.
