Join the Wendell Free Library Tiny Art Show! This is a fun event for patrons of all ages to show off their art skills on a small 3″ x 3″ canvas. Decorate a 3″ x 3″ canvas and return it to the library by February 9 for an exhibition. Canvases & Kits will be available starting January 2.

The yoga workshop format is styled to allow time for greater focus than a traditional class can provide, Handouts to study for clarification. Consideration given to each student’s uniqueness, age, level of fitness.

How Spiders See the World

Thursday Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

With their big eyes, adorable courtship dances, and cat-like predatory pounces, jumping spiders are appealing even to many arachnophobes. In this talk, I’ll introduce you to these spiders and tell you about how a tiny animal with a sesame-seed sized brain gathers and analyzes information from its eight eyes.

Beth Jakob is a Wendell resident and Professor of Biology at Umass Amherst. Her area of research is “Jumping spider perception, especially the control of visual attention and how input from multiple eyes is integrated.” &

“Behavioral ecology and evolution of learned behaviors, using jumping spiders as model organisms.”

Book Discussion Group

In February the the group will discuss the 2017 novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
