Wendell Board Of Health Reminder, November 19, 2023

Posted on November 19, 2023

The holiday season is upon us, and we have much to look forward to: celebratory dinners with family and friends, special events, holiday decorating and caroling, to name a few.

The Wendell Holiday Craft Fair at the Town Hall is scheduled for Friday, December 8 and Saturday, December 9. Our many talented crafters always have amazing creations that make wonderful gifts.

As with other town events, the Board of Health would like to remind food vendors that those selling foods that require controlled temperatures need to first obtain a Temporary Food Permit. The permits are $10 per day, and can be gotten by emailing us at boardofhealth@wendellmass.us. We will also need a copy of your current ServSafe Certificate and Allergy Training Certificate. If your home base is in another town, we require a copy of your permit from that town as well.

Those selling non-temperature controlled foods (unprocessed honey or maple syrup; spices/herbs; jams/jellies; chocolates/candy; baked products) do not need a permit, but we ask you to complete a registration form, for which there is no charge. Contact us at the above email address and we will send you the document.

When attending the Craft Fair and other events with many people, the Board of Health strongly recommends the wearing of masks. Flu, Covid-19 and RSV are a triple threat this year as all of them are circulating at the same time. We also advise that you test yourselves for Covid-19 before visiting family and friends, and ask that they do the same. No one wants to spend the holidays with these respiratory illnesses. We hope that you are up to date with your vaccines. If not, try to get them as soon as possible. While this sounds like very old news, these diseases continue to be very contagious and dangerous for the unvaccinated and certain groups of people, especially the very young and those over 60.

We wish you safe travels, and a healthy and happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Best regards,

Barbara Craddock for the Wendell Board of Health
